Theology, Politics, and a Little Bit of Banjo
They say there’s two subjects never to bring up in polite conversation - religion and politics. Well, that’s exactly what this podcast is going to cover - my two favorite subjects. Throw in a little bit of banjo music and you’ve got a great listening experience coming your way.
I urge you to learn along with me. I don’t claim to be an expert in any field, but I do desire to explore exciting concepts and ideas that shape our lives, culture and relationship with God. That’s why I seek to bring on a variety of different guests, even a few folks I’m going to have sharp disagreements with from time to time. We might talk about anything ranging from reformed theology to the electoral college. My hope is that God might use this podcast to deepen your faith, broaden your mind, and have a little fun while doing so.

I finally got to meet Congressman Tom Tiffany! Tom is running for governor here in Wisconsin and enjoys the coveted Kevin Thompson full endorsement. This event concluded with a q and a time, so of course I asked if I could get him on record for the podcast. He said yes and I fired away with a question on school choice. It's a short interaction, but worth your attention!

It's ok to be a Christian, as long as you keep in within the four walls of your church or within safety of your own home. But, your religion has no place in the public square, government, education or in any other "secular" realm. Yet, our Scripture commands us to go into ALL the world and preach the gospel. We must not give up the public square, no matter what the consequences. Joining us this week is an evangelist who has boldly proclaimed his faith only to an face angry, violent mob. Last week I had the chance to attend a meet and greet with Mitchell Berman, running for Congress in Wisconsin's first district. I asked if I could as these questions for the podcast and he agreed. First, I asked about his view concerning the division within the Democratic Party over democratic socialism and then his thoughts on how to win over people like myself in the middle. I think we've all me that one self-anointed preacher, prophet or teacher who loves to judge others while amassing quite a following for himself through theatrics and cheap entertainment. Social media seems to platform and aide much of these people. Author and pastor Kevin Horath has written an excellent book providing all the red flags to check before giving credence to such a person. Its well written, thoroughly Biblical, scientific and pastoral. You need to buy this book!

Church hurt can be a broad term that covers quite a bit - everything from abusive clergy to people who just want to justify their sin. In his latest book, Pastor Lee Snow provides a devotional workbook for those suffering from negative church experience. The book provides the space one needs to heal - self reflection and Biblical truth. Ultimately, we are pointed back to the Head of the Church - Christ Himself. The local church is God's plan, but not every church follows God's plan.
