They say there’s two subjects never to bring up in polite conversation - religion and politics.  Well, that’s exactly what this podcast is going to cover - my two favorite subjects. Throw in a little bit of banjo music and you’ve got a great listening experience coming your way.

I urge you to learn along with me. I don’t claim to be an expert in any field, but I do desire to explore exciting concepts and ideas that shape our lives, culture and relationship with God. That’s why I seek to bring on a variety of different guests, even a few folks I’m going to have sharp disagreements with from time to time.  We might talk about anything ranging from reformed theology to the electoral college. My hope is that God might use this podcast to deepen your faith, broaden your mind, and have a little fun while doing so.

This weekend I will be posting several episodes focusing on Wisconsin's Spiring Elections on Tuesday.  First, I welcome Beloit School Board Candidate Juan Romero.  If you live in the area, you know this is a politically-charged election with much on the line.  Whatever you do, please do not ignore this election.  This will have a huge impact on the children in our area.  So, listen in a Juan walks us through his plan not to ram an agenda down the public's throat but actually listen to our teachers and students first and then look for steps to actually solve some of the issues we face.

Is it a sin to get a tattoo?  Are hesitations regarding tattoos just a vestige old-fashioned legalism or does the Bible condemn the practice?  As many in Reformed circles embrace tatting up themselves in Greek Scripture passages and Trinitarian symbols, should we give pause and give this a little more thought?  Join my friend entrepreneur Dayton Bennett and I as we discuss this controversial issue this week on the podcast.  Share this with your friends!

025 - The Scandal of Schism

Tuesday Mar 04, 2025

Tuesday Mar 04, 2025

We all desire doctrinal clarity and purity.  But in our efforts to distinguish ourselves from other denominations, groups and teachers we believe to be mistaken, are we forgetting about Christ's desire to have a unified church?  Are purity and unity mutually exclusive?  Can you seek unity without sacrificing Biblical doctrine.  This week we are exploring the book The Scandal of Schism by Chris Anderson, the head of Church Works Media.  Listen in as Chris describes his struggle with these issues growing up and searching for Biblical truth within modern day fundamentalism.

The word "fundamentalist" is often thrown around to describe anyone from Billy Graham to radical Islamic sects.  But, to those of us who grew up self-identifying as one, the term has a whole different meaning.  But even among this group, not all fundamentalists are equal.  So, joining us this week is Dr. Joel Tetreau of the Institute of Biblical Leadership.  Dr. Tetreau is here to chat about his book, Three Lines in the Evangelical Sand: Types A, B, C Fundamentalism.

Today, a tragic school shooting took place at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, WI - near where I teach.  Like many of you, I was shocked and horrified.  These are brothers and sisters in Christ.  They are family. This is just a quick prayer, a pouring out of my heart to the Lord.
