They say there’s two subjects never to bring up in polite conversation - religion and politics. Well, that’s exactly what this podcast is going to cover - my two favorite subjects. Throw in a little bit of banjo music and you’ve got a great listening experience coming your way.
I urge you to learn along with me. I don’t claim to be an expert in any field, but I do desire to explore exciting concepts and ideas that shape our lives, culture and relationship with God. That’s why I seek to bring on a variety of different guests, even a few folks I’m going to have sharp disagreements with from time to time. We might talk about anything ranging from reformed theology to the electoral college. My hope is that God might use this podcast to deepen your faith, broaden your mind, and have a little fun while doing so.

Quite a bit went on in the month of November! On this episode of the podcast, I want to share my thoughts about the recent events surrounding Dr. Steve Lawson and the passing of Hal Lindsey and Tony Campolo. All three of these men have had an impact on my life in one way or another, though these three men could not be further apart theologically! In fact, the theologically astute among us might be wondering how these men could be uttered in the same breath! Tune in and find out...

Last week ended a close and continuous Presidential election. Donald Trump won quite a decisive victory. While the election is over, the drama continues. Some on both sides have chosen condemn the other as unamerican or, even worse, un-Christian. So, on today’s podcast I want to answer the question, how do I love my neighbor who didn’t vote the same way I did? Let me offer four principles to help tackle this question.

We are just a matter of hour away from the most important election of our lifetime, until the next important election of lifetime four years from now. But, we get closer to Tuesday, I have asked many times why I cannot vote for Donald Trump. So, I thought I would take the time to explain why here. I also address objections like - King David was imperfect, Trump is not running to be pastor, we must vote for the lesser of two evils and Trump is better on abortion.

We are just one week away from the latest most important election of our lifetime... This week political activist and former presidential candidate Tom Hoefling joins me to chat about the ethical dilemma many Christian Evangelicals are wrestling with when confronted with the candidacy of Donald Trump. In less than one month, we will be voting for our next President, along with any other equally important down ticket races such as governorships, congress and state legislatures. This week, Byron Foxx joins me to discuss his new book, Christian Citizenship - a series of college lectures intended to encourage believers to act upon their civic responsibilities.

This is an exciting moment for me! One of my former students wrote a book, a good one at that! This week's guest is Taja Hereford who is here to talk about her book, Power of Now. I have read the book and recommend it to you. Warning, its a short book that will take you a long time to read! But, its worth the time. Power Here takes you on a journey that's goal is a closer relationship with God in there here and now. Rather than escaping your problems or running away in hops of things getting better in the future, Taja invites you to deal with your problems not through cheap gimmicks or false promises, but through a study of the Scriptures and what we old people used to call the spiritual disciplines.

There is no doubt our current political climate is deeply divided. Many a family dinner and friendly conversation has been destroyed by that one blowhard who lacks any sense of nuance and self-control. Yet, as grown adults, and especially believers in Christ, we should be able to at least act civilly with those with whom we disagree. My guest today is Malcolm Hunter, a true kindred spirit who also has a passion to engage with others in a meaningful but peaceful way. Listen in as Malcolm talks about how his early childhood under Jim Crow, loving parents and faith in Christ has helped shape how he interacts with those he wished to reach. Malcolm and I have some major disagreements - he's sax player and I'm committed to the banjo!
